Advocates for Access & Accountability (AAA) is committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality and dignity of individuals, families and legal decision-makers who engage with our work. Many people who share information with AAA do so in circumstances involving vulnerability or power imbalance. Safeguarding that information is a core ethical responsibility.

AAA collects information voluntarily provided for the purposes of identifying systemic patterns, informing policy and program reform, and advancing public-interest accountability in publicly funded disability care. Information is collected only to the extent reasonably necessary to support these objectives.

Information shared with AAA is used in aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized form unless explicit, informed consent is provided for disclosure. Personal identifying information is not published, sold or shared for commercial purposes.

AAA does not adjudicate disputes or investigate individual cases. Information is used to identify patterns, risks, and governance gaps, and to support evidence-based advocacy, transparency and prevention of harm.

Special care is taken when information relates to individuals who are vulnerable, dependent on care, or unable to advocate for themselves. Decisions regarding use or publication are guided by harm-reduction principles and the priority of safety, dignity and well-being.

AAA applies reasonable administrative and ethical safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access or misuse and retains information only as long as necessary to support its public-interest mandate.

Participation in AAA activities is voluntary. Where immediate health, safety, or rights concerns exist, individuals are encouraged to seek appropriate legal, medical or emergency support.
